When it comes to feeding time, it’s not just about the food! The right dog bowl can make a difference to how your dog feeds. We stock a wide range of food and water bowls for dogs including ceramic dog bowls, plastic dog bowls, slow feeders, raised dog bowls and feeding puzzles.

Raised feeders and slow feeders can help your dog digest their food much more easily, which can help alleviate some ailments such as wind or acid reflux in dogs.

Which dog bowl do I need for my dog?

With such a wide variety of dog bowls to choose from, it can be quite daunting picking the perfect feeding bowl. Your dog needs one water bowl and one food bowl for their daily feeding regime. The bowl size depends on your dog’s breed and how often/much they eat.

Your dog’s bowl should be at least 4 times bigger than their average food serving, for a safe and comfortable mealtime. For a drinking bowl, it’s better for a bowl to be slightly too big for your dog than be too small.

For larger dogs and older dogs, we would recommend a raised feeding station for your dog bowls. This not only helps their joints and neck when bending to eat but can aid better digestion and swallowing. Eating from a raised feeder can also help alleviate wind in larger dogs.

My dog eats really fast- what can I do?

Slow feeding dog bowls or feeding mats such as the lickimat can help eager feeders. Slow feeding bowls come with puzzles or stoppers within the bowl to help your dog slow down and find their food before gobbling it up. Slow feeders can also help alleviate digestive ailments which can be caused by your dog eating too fast.

Do I need a dog bowl for walks?

For traveling and days out, we would always recommend a travel bowl which can easily fold up and be transported with your dog. Dog water bottles are also a great accessory for longer walks and car journeys to help avoid any spillage!

How do I wash my dog’s bowl?

This will depend on the type of bowl you have for your dog. Most dog bowls are dishwasher safe and can be cleaned on a cycle with regular kitchen dishes. Washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets can be used on your dog’s feeding equipment safely ensuring they are always rinsed thoroughly with hot water.
